Cherry diseases

Cherries is a very popular fruit tree that bears very tasty and healthy fruits. But the joy of consuming this berry can spoil the disease of the cherry.

Pests and cherry disease can cause irreparable damage to the tree, which will lead to minimal fruit ripening. That is why it is necessary to know what problems may be in order to know exactly how to deal with them.

Often, cherries develop cylindrosporosis or white rust. The causative agent of this disease is a fungus, which causes complete leaf fall in trees by mid-July. As a result, the trees are greatly weakened, and in colder winters, they fall off.

Also cherries can affect fungal diseases, namely fruit rot, perforated spot. And there are often viral diseases in the form of chlorotic and necrotic ring spots.

Among the pests of sweet cherry there is a cherry fly, which is the most dangerous pest for this tree. The larva of this fly can cause worminess of fruits in late cherries. The cherry sawfly is its larva, which looks like a leech. This larva can destroy the green tissue and epidermis of the leaves, leaving the lower epidermis as well as the conductive tissue.

Also, cherry weevil, stone fruit wasp, black cherry leaf aphid and other pests can cause very great harm.

To combat diseases and pests, it is necessary to burn the collected dry fallen leaves. At the same time, dry and diseased branches must be cut off, and mummified fruits and caterpillar nests must be collected and destroyed.

In winter, spraying with 1% dinosol solution can be carried out. Or spraying is carried out in the spring after swelling of the buds, using a solution of Bordeaux liquid 2%.
