Characteristics of the variety

"Eurasia 21" - belongs to the category of varieties of home plums. Ripens early. The tree grows to a height of about 5 meters. The crown is not very thickened, semi-spreading. The trunk and bark of the plum are gray. The fruits are roundish, the appearance is very attractive. When ripe, plums acquire a dark blue color with a slightly burgundy tint. Fruit weight is 23-33 g. The pulp is juicy and friable, yellowish with an orange tinge. The fruits taste sweet and sour, have a pronounced aroma.

The sugar content in fruits is about 7%, and the acidity is within 2.7%. Begins to bear fruit 5 years after planting. This variety has a high yield. The only drawback is the instability of fruiting. This is due to weather conditions.

If the weather is rainy and cold during the flowering period, then there will be less fruit. Winter hardiness of this variety is quite high. The roots can withstand up to -20 degrees, and the root system of the seedlings up to -10 degrees. Plums can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 20 days. You can store plums frozen for six months, but the taste is quickly lost. Among the shortcomings, one can single out the large size of the trees, irregular fruiting and damage by some diseases.

Plum growing technology

Plum "Eurasia 21" should be placed in a well-lit area. It is recommended to plant on a hill. With a close occurrence of groundwater, it is undesirable to grow this variety. "Eurasia 21" is self-sterile and pollen is not viable, therefore pollinators are needed for plums. This should be taken into account when landing.

The following varieties can be used as pollinators: Golden Fleece, Skorospelka Krasnaya, Volzhskaya Krasavitsa, etc. All these varieties bloom at the same time as Eurasia 21. The soil for plums should be clayey, moist and heavy. Planting should be done in spring. The pit can be prepared in the fall or just before planting in the spring. Its depth should be about 70 cm, and its width should be 80 cm.

Put eggshells at the bottom. Pour humus or peat into the pit with the addition of wood ash and organic fertilizers. Stir this mixture with the topsoil. Then plant the tree so that the root collar is located just above the soil.

Tamp the earth around the tree well and spill 2-3 buckets of water. It is recommended to tie the plum to a peg, and to keep moisture in the soil longer, mulch around the tree with sawdust.

How to care for Eurasia plum

After planting, there is no need to fertilize the plum for the first year. In the future, fertilizing is performed with nitrogen fertilizers. You can buy them in special stores and dilute them according to the instructions. In the autumn, it is recommended to feed with phosphorus or potash fertilizers. Organic fertilizers are often undesirable. If the soil is fertile, then once every three years is enough. Before applying fertilizer, you need to loosen the soil.

The first feeding is usually done before flowering, the second in early summer and the last in August. In addition, you should regularly loosen the ground, remove weeds, periodically add humus, peat. Water the tree at least 4-5 times per summer. The first watering is carried out before flowering, and the rest is carried out at intervals of 20-30 days. Pruning is also important.

It is recommended to thin out the shoots in order to get a good growth. It is advisable to perform the procedure at the beginning of summer. If there are damaged or diseased shoots, pruning is also carried out. It is important not to forget to prune old branches. To protect the crop from possible diseases, preventive measures must be followed.

In the autumn, it is necessary to dig up the soil, collect and remove the carrion. Trees are recommended to be treated with Bordeaux liquid or to use copper oxychloride instead. This will avoid the development of such common diseases as clasterosporia and fruit rot. Variety "Eurasia 21" is unpretentious in care. If you regularly take care of the tree, you can get a good harvest.

Application features

"Eurasia 21" is a table variety. The fruits can be consumed not only fresh, but also used in cooking: make jam, jam, dry, etc. Plums are actively used in industrial processing. They are used to prepare juices with pulp, puree for baby food, etc.

To prepare plum jam for the winter, you will need: 1 kg of fruits, half a glass of water and 1 kg of sugar. Wash the plums thoroughly, peel, remove the seeds and cut into small wedges. Take a saucepan and put a plum, pour water and add sugar. If the plums are sour, then add more sugar.

Leave in this state for a couple of hours to let the fruit juice. Cook the jam for at least 40 minutes. While the jam is cooking, you can prepare the jars and sterilize them.
