"Onion heals seven ailments"
The onion so familiar to us (all types) comes from the lily family.
One of their important features is the content of a high amount of phytoncides (biologically active substances). And they increase a person's resistance to various diseases.
The bow comes from Central Asia. Now it is one of the most common garden plants. There are many sayings, proverbs and riddles about him among the people.
It is grown in different ways - in a 1-2 year old or 3 year old culture. If the growing season is long enough, then even in 1 season you can get high quality bulbs from seeds.
First, the so-called senchik onion is obtained from the seeds. In some areas, cultivation is called sevk.

Requirements for the growing conditions of onions
Onions are a cold-resistant plant, they love light and a long day. To get a good harvest, the soil must be fertilized.
Onions do not tolerate shaded areas well, therefore, sowing should be placed in a well-lit area. Soils are preferable to be loose, structured, with a high content of nutrients.
Preparing seeds for planting
Senchik is an onion obtained from seeds. To obtain friendly shoots, to improve the quality of the onion and its yield, it is necessary to prepare the seeds. This can be done in the following ways:
- soaking seeds before planting;
- micronutrient treatment
- warming up the seeds in hot water (50-60 minutes at a temperature of 40-45 degrees, and then, after draining the water, place them in a warm place before spitting on individual seeds);
- bubbling, pelleting

Sowing is best done in the first days of spring field work. If you use ultra-early sowing, then the seeds are planted dry.
The seeding depth is 3-4 centimeters.
After sowing in the grooves, the soil is compacted. This can be done with the edge of the board, the back of the rake. It is good to mulch the rows with sawdust or humus in order to prevent the formation of a crust on the soil, which will interfere with seedlings.
The onions must be kept in a loose and clean, weed-free condition.
When 2-3 true leaves appear, it is necessary to thin out the seedlings (3-4 cm from each other). And after a couple of weeks - at a distance of 5-6 cm between the plants.
It is necessary to water the crops 6-10 times, moistening the soil to a depth of 20 cm.
If the growth is weak, then it is necessary to fertilize with organic and mineral fertilizers.
It is better to stop watering 20-30 days before harvesting.
Harvesting and storing onions
Most often, onions are harvested in August. By this time, the leaves turn yellow, the neck with the upper scales of the senchik bulb dry up.
Cleaning is carried out in dry weather. Leave in a garden bed or under a canopy for 1-2 weeks until complete ventilation.
When the onion is dry, the tops are cut off from it, leaving only 3-4 centimeters.
You don't have to cut it, leaving only the roots. In this case, the bow is tied into a "braid". This looks very impressive, in addition to being useful, so you can decorate the kitchen with such weaving.
Store onions well in boxes at a temperature of 1-3 degrees Celsius. Be sure to ventilate periodically.
Growing onion-turnip from senchik
The soil is prepared in the same way as for sowing seeds.
Senchik planting in the soil in spring is carried out later than seeds, in loose and warmed soil. The usual deadline is early April.
Previously, small senchik bulbs are cut to the shoulders and soaked.
They are planted in grooves: 12-15 cm between the bulbs and 6-7 cm in a row.
Such an onion grows well on a turnip and when planted in the winter.
