This variety is distinguished by its grace and showiness, it looks great both in a single planting and in groups in which other plants also get along well. Her homeland is the Land of the Rising Sun, from where from the late 19th century it spread to Europe, and in the mid-20th to America.
- Keiskaya, which is a highly branched bush with slightly smaller flowers, purple outside.
Its primary habitat is Japan and China, in addition, it was originally distributed on the Korean Peninsula. It is a small deciduous tree that rarely exceeds ten meters in height. Its cultivation began in the second half of the 19th century. It is distinguished by the highest indicators of frost resistance, which makes it possible to grow it even in the most unfavorable climatic conditions. The most striking proof of this is the positive experience of keeping it in the botanical garden in Vladivostok. Surprisingly, even there she delighted visitors with her luxurious appearance.
As you might guess from the name, it is remarkable for its leaves. Indeed, they simply amaze the imagination with their gigantic dimensions, which often reach eighty centimeters in length. Flowers are also appropriate: the diameter of the milky-white drooping bells is at least thirty cm. Another interesting feature is that the species bears fruit with pink small fruits.
At home, in China, it is widely used by healers to get rid of a wide variety of ailments. Unfortunately, in our climatic zone, it practically does not occur. However, in Kiev you can see not only flowering, but also harvesting specimens. As for the use as a medicine, domestic folk physicians do not even think about such a thing yet. And this is not surprising, because the raw materials are completely unfamiliar to them.
It is notable for the fact that it is practically unknown in the wild. However, in gardening art, including Russian art, it is highly valued. In terms of flowering, perhaps one of the most spectacular species: its flowers are purple on the outside and completely white on the inside, their size is at least 11 cm.A rare visitor to the park can walk past such beauty without admiring it and enjoying the amazingly delicate aroma.
- black, characterized by a light purple color with a more intense tone from the outside;
- graceful, the features of which are reflected in its very name: this bush has thin branches and very narrow leaves, which, together with small flowers, look extremely attractive.
Do you want to acquire such a beauty? Fortunately, this is completely easy to do. It should be planted in late spring or summer.
Please note that only seedlings with a closed root system should be purchased in stores.
As for the choice of location, everything is as simple as possible. It should be sunny, extremely protected from any, even the most insignificant wind, especially from the north. The optimum soil is fertile and yet light.
How to care?
Adult specimens can easily tolerate frost up to 25-30 degrees, but for young animals even not so significant "minuses" are often destructive. Therefore, they must be covered using a non-woven two-layer material, best of all - ordinary burlap or lutrasil. Be especially careful when tying the branches of magnolias, as they are extremely fragile and break easily. Such a simple tool will save beauty from freezing.
Its essence lies in the regular performance of only four operations:
- watering, which should be very abundant, especially in dry times;
- regular feeding with special fertilizers sold in specialized stores;
- mulching the soil.
Pruning is a very controversial and controversial moment. Some gardeners urge not to expose plants to this effect. However, most of them lean towards the need for pruning, thanks to which a beautiful neat crown can be formed. In fact, it should only be done for sanitary purposes. But rejuvenating branch removal will definitely not be beneficial. The thing is that dormant buds located on old branches bloom very inactively.
As you can see, everything is unusually simple, not burdensome and does not even take a significant amount of time.
