One of the tasty and healthy fruits is sweet cherry. There are quite a few varieties, but all of them are subject to disease, as well as damage by various pests, which must be constantly controlled.

Cherry pests affect, not only leaves, shoots, root system, but also fruits.

One of the most common pests is black cherry aphidwhich rolls the leaves plants as well shortens the tops of young shoots... Usually, a black, shiny aphid is located on the underside of the leaf. The most unpleasant pest is cherry fly, the larvae of which are located directly in the pulp of the fresh fruit, destroying it from the inside. The appearance of this pest on cherries is associated with the nearby herbaceous plantations in which it lives.

It is quite rare that cherries are affected slimy sawflythat eats away the leaves. The centimeter black slimy larvae destroy only the upper layer of the leaves, leaving the lower layer, as well as leaf veins. This pest can be dealt with by spraying with special agents.

Another pest is cherry elephantwhich appears as small holes on the surface of the fruit. These micro-holes are made by the female in order to lay eggs inside the fetus. The larvae ripe from the egg eat out the inside of the cherry pits. By the time of harvest, a beetle appears from the larva and leaves the fruit. Therefore, when signs of damage by this pest appear, the fruits must be removed prematurely and destroyed.

All of the above, as well as many other cherry pests, are dangerous, therefore it is necessary to carry out annually preventive spraying.
