Each pool must have its own filter, where the water enters and exits clean. In most swimming pools a sand filtration system is used, because it guarantees a long life and a good filtration quality, as well as an economic price. The filter must be purchased based on the size of the pool and is generally sold with it. For a complete water recirculation, in the case of an average pool, it takes four to six hours. If the pool is used continuously, the filter must always be in operation. Each sand filter shows the filtering capacity and the flow rate of the pump on the packaging. Often when you buy a pool at a very affordable price, it may happen that the pump is not able to circulate the entire overall water capacity and therefore with the passage of time, the pool water becomes increasingly dirty. . You will then need to contact a retailer to purchase another pump that can filter the entire amount of water. The sand filter is formed by a cylinder-shaped container into which the sand is inserted. The pump sends water to the filter from the top and during the passage it completely cleans itself. Every fifteen days the sand filter must be washed and at the end of the season more in-depth control is required. Backwashing is necessary when the pool should no longer be used. We need to check the sand level and add more if it is missing.
Filter cleaning and control
When starting to use the pool, we must never neglect the cleaning of the filter because there may also be the risk of bacterial contamination. We should not think that mushrooms are easy to take only in public swimming pools, because they can also happen in private pools, if maintenance and cleaning do not take place correctly. There are also substances to be diluted in water. Only after the backwash can the filter be restarted. If every single procedure is followed regularly, the filter can last for a few years, otherwise it is necessary to change it every year.
The cartridge filter
The cartridge filter uses, instead of sand, a cartridge and, although it is very effective because it can capture even the thinnest dirt, it gets dirty very soon. It has a low cost and requires little space. To clean the filter, open the cylinder and wash it under running water. The cartridge usually lasts for a year but may need to be replaced first due to limescale. If the condition is not so dramatic, an anti-limestone product can be used, but it has a fairly high cost. If last-generation algaecides are used, the risk is that the filter may get clogged. This filter is often used for small above-ground pools and its operation is very simple: by means of a tube connected to the pool and to the pump, the water passes into the filter of the cartridge, captures the dirt and then returns to the pool by means of of the other tube. The smaller or larger capacity of the filter to suck up the dirt in the pool depends on the size of the pump. Inground pools also require cleaning of the filtering system.
Above ground pool filters
The above ground pool has three filters: the skimmer basket, the bag and the pump filter basket. The skimmer basket should be cleaned every three days. To remove it, simply turn it slightly. The pump filter basket should be cleaned less often. In order that the pool is always ready to be used and the water can guarantee a good level of cleanliness, it is important that the filter, whatever it is, always turns out to be perfectly clean. Only by ensuring proper maintenance of it will it be possible to re-use it also the following year. We notice its malfunctioning when the water starts to take on a strange color, in which case it will be necessary to provide immediately, so as not to make the situation worse. To check the functioning of the filter of a small pool, you can decide to empty it and fill it again after verification.
Help from specialized personnel
When presenting the choice between the sand filter and the cartridge filter, always ask the dealer for all the disadvantages and advantages that each of them can offer and choose the one that best meets your needs but above all the one that is best in proportion to the pool . As it was said before, when buying the pool, the pump is already present in the package. To check whether it can be adequate for filtering all the water, just start it up and see if it keeps its initial state in a couple of days. If this is not the case, it is better to replace it immediately, otherwise you could also compromise the cleanliness of the bottom of the tank. Being advised by an expert person is always the best solution whether it is in-ground pools or above-ground pools.
Swimming pool filters: swimming pools: Swimming pool filters
Many people who own a garden have a dream, and that is to build a swimming pool in it. After purchasing it, it is a good idea to install a filter. For assembly, we suggest that the cartridge filter be inserted inside the pump after closing the valves that allow water to enter inside it and after unscrewing the pump cap. The sand filter needs to be checked periodically and is placed inside a cylindrical container. Careful washing must be carried out every fortnight and every time the pool is used for the new season, before operating it, check that the sand level is adequate. Above ground pools, on the other hand, have as many as three filters, each of which performs an autonomous function but one dependent on the other.
