Lillà - Syringe

LillŠ°: Lillà

The lilac plant was once known as the blue pipe because of its hollow stems that were used to make pipes.
The scientific name derives from the Greek word Syringa which means tube, due to its small tubular-shaped flowers, divided into four lobes, scented of white, purple or pink.
In the language of flowers the meaning varies according to the color; so giving the flowers of lilac in the white variety means childhood, and juvenile innocence; delivering instead lilac flowers in the purple variety expresses falling in love and heartbeats of love.
However in some places it is said that delivering a sprig of lilac means breaking the engagement.
